PROJECT DETAILS
For Akamai Technologies’ global headquarters at 145 Broadway in Cambridge, the design team sought a lighting solution that could visually express the company’s mission of global connectedness. The answer came through Sculpt, Axis Lighting’s ultra-slim 1.5" linear system, which became the backbone of a striking architectural concept known as the AkaMile.
Working closely with HLB Lighting Design, Axis helped create a continuous, mile-long ribbon of light that winds through the 19-story, LEED Gold and WELL-certified tower. Sculpt’s precision, modularity, and ability to form seamless, uninterrupted lines made it the ideal system to bring this ambitious vision to life.
From the lobby to collaborative zones to vertical circulation paths, Sculpt delivers clean, uniform illumination while doubling as a graphic design element that guides movement and reinforces Akamai’s identity. The result is not just functional lighting, but a unifying visual language woven into the architecture itself.
With Sculpt, the headquarters becomes a dynamic, connected environment—one where light shapes experience, supports productivity, and tells a brand story from the moment you step inside.
